Sea Isle City and social media are currently abuzz with the excitement of hosting a movie shoot, albeit without officially adopting the title. EB Films LLC, an independent film production company, commenced filming in Sea Isle on Monday and is slated to continue until October 30. The film in question is a "whodunit suspense thriller mystery" set in a fictional small coastal town, notable for its absence of graphic content or nudity, as confirmed by Sea Isle spokesperson Katherine Custer, who didn't have information regarding the film's title.

Despite Sea Isle's picturesque beaches and iconic locations, the film discreetly refrains from mentioning the town's name within the narrative. Custer affirmed that "They are not naming Sea Isle." The film crew has maintained close communication with the city to ensure a smooth shooting process and prevent disruptions, with Custer emphasizing that "Everything is above board with the film shoot. They have been keeping the city in the loop during the whole process."
In the interest of safety and liability, EB Films had to provide proof of insurance and sign a "hold harmless" agreement, protecting Sea Isle from any potential legal repercussions during the filming. This is a proactive measure to ensure that the film production does not negatively impact the city or its residents. Additionally, the Cape May County Bridge Commission, overseeing the Townsends Inlet Bridge connecting Sea Isle and Avalon, has entered into an indemnification agreement with EB Films to safeguard against any liability arising from filming on the bridge, underlining the commitment to a seamless partnership.

EB Films is helmed by E.B. Hughes, a distinguished writer, director, and producer known for films such as "Turnabout" (2016), "Exit 0" (2019), and "The Long Way Back" (2020). His work often draws inspiration from the South Jersey region, with "Exit 0" notably shot in Cape May Court House and other Cape May locations. However, Hughes couldn't be reached for comment regarding the Sea Isle film shoot.

In parallel to EB Films' project, the Sea Isle City Tourism Commission is generating excitement with plans to create a new 30-second tourism commercial. This commercial, a centerpiece of the town's 2024 summer marketing campaign, will feature everyday people who visit and vacation in Sea Isle, rather than professional actors or actresses. The concept revolves around interviewing individuals around town and at special events, asking them, "What is your reason to smile in Sea Isle?" Upon completion, the commercial will be showcased on various city marketing platforms, including social media and the visitsicnj.com tourism website.
