Make an Entrance: 5 Fresh Looks for Your Foyer This Season

Make an Entrance: 5 Fresh Looks for Your Foyer This Season

July 2nd 2022

Summer is one of those seasons that follow you into your home no matter what, from the flowers on your table to the water dripping from wet bathing suits. But this week’s trending looks from Instagram are all about bringing the outdoors inside a little differently.

From luxurious seating options to warm color schemes, we’ve got five trends lined up that will make your entryway summer-ready from both a decor and function standpoint. Here are five summer styles to consider for your next seasonal splurge.

1. Floral accent wall

Looking to bring some summer vibes into your foyer? Then you might want to add a floral accent wall like this one from @allieprovost.

“Flowers would make anyone smile, and when you’re greeted with a wall covered in a fun floral pattern, that is sure to brighten your day,” says designer Sara Dahl, of Dahlhaus Design. “With so many peel-and-stick removable wallpaper options available now, it’s easy to add a bold and colorful wallpaper to an accent wall in your home. And an entryway is a great place to do it.”

2. Entryway daybed

If you have a spacious foyer with room to spare, swapping out your run-of-the-mill entryway bench for a daybed sofa (like this one from @home_decor_daily) is an upgrade worth making.

“Typically, the entryway is void of any soft materials like drapery, rugs, or upholstered furniture,” says Dahl. “A cushioned daybed is a great way to make an entryway feel as cozy and welcoming as the other spaces in your home. As a bonus, you can hide shoes in a tray or basket underneath the seat.”

3. Summer blues (and whites)

There’s something about a blue and white color scheme that just screams summer. And this entryway from @straydogdesigns is hitting all the right notes.

“Bringing the outdoors in is incredibly soothing,” says designer Sandra Moreno, of Studio No. 8. “Blues remind us of water and the sky, which inspire calm and tranquility. And pairing the hue with white is classic. For a monochromatic effect, select bold patterns that make a statement or incorporate different tones of blues.”

4. This ‘drop zone’

When it comes to bringing the summer inside more practically, look no further than this all-in-one “drop zone” featured by @rosabeltrandesign.

“In busy households, the ‘drop zone’ is a great way to keep all the sports gear, coats, and shoes in one place,” says Moreno. “Hooks, baskets, and cubbies keep items organized, sorted, and hidden. Use the vertical space to maximize storage, and closed cubbies at the top for items from a different season or things used on occasion.”

5. Art deco table

Another summer upgrade we love? Flashy gold furniture like this art deco table from @insplosion.

“The entrance to your home is an opportunity to make a great first impression on your guests,” says Dahl. “Incorporating a statement piece in your entryway will start things off on a high note. And an art deco–style console table certainly brings that ‘wow’ factor to your space. Pairing that table with a large piece of artwork or a decorative framed mirror above is a fantastic focal point for when you walk in the front door.”
