The United States Oldest Seashore Resort, Victorian Cape May, continues to rein in the awards.

In a recent voting, Cape May made USA Today’s “10 Best” public holiday light displays.

The Cape May Chamber of Commerce decided to start the “Light Up Cape May” event in 2015. The event began with the idea that Cape May needed more holiday lights. As the event grew, different sponsors and the Cape May Chamber of Commerce came together to make it a contest for the homes and businesses in their community.

“Cape May is a wonderful sight during the holiday season,” said James Ridgway, President of the Greater Cape May Chamber of Commerce. “Our visitors tell us that we resemble a Dickens Village with the lights on our Victorian homes and businesses complemented with the gas lamps on our streets.”

Elaine’s Cape May was the overall business winner this year with businesses on the Washington Street Mall. The other winners are listed on the event’s website.

As well as being top 10 in the nation, Cape May invites everyone to visit and enjoy a variety of trolley tours, carriage rides and special events. Some of these include concerts and productions at Cape May Stage and East Lynne Theater Company through New Year’s Day.
