The Cape May County-area offers an endless array of summer activities. Yet one of the best ways to enjoy the summer is to kick back on a warm evening with a frosty beverage from the comforts of your own front porch.
And so in the spirit of helping you achieve the ultimate relaxing staycation, we’re back this week with some Instagram favorites that are sure to ramp up the style (and kick-back factor) of your front porch.
Whether you’re looking for a complete porch makeover or just a little decor boost—this week’s trending looks from Instagram have a little something for everyone. Here are five fresh ideas to consider for your front porch this season.
1. Built-in bench

You can never have too many seating options when it comes to front porch living. And this built-in bench from @americanfarmhousestyle is a testament to just that.
“Built-in anything brings a level and feeling of custom design,” says Rebekah Larson, owner of DecraHome. “It signals that the product is higher-end and wasn’t just a last-minute add-on. This ready-to-use bench—with all the tones and textures that evoke feelings of comfort and nature—provides an instant opportunity to stop for a second and take it all in.”
2. Stair accent tiles

Front porches with wooden floors are such a part of our norm that we tend to not even consider tiling for these outdoor spaces. But as @gardendesignmag has shown—these stair tiles are every bit at home in a modern front porch design.
“Outdoor tile is a great way to bring the style you appreciate indoors to the outdoor spaces we all enjoy using,” says Larson. “This design palette is so popular in today’s custom builds. Just bear in mind that some tiles may not provide the same traction as wood or brushed concrete when wet, so pick options that will be safe in slippery conditions.”
3. Planters galore

Break from the traditional two planters flanking your front entrance and go wild with a “planters galore” look from @pinebendhome.
“Porch planters can add personality to the space without breaking the bank,” says Rebecca Breslin, senior design manager for Wayfair Professional. “If you’re looking to add a ‘welcome home’ touch to an extenuated space, the creative possibilities are endless. You can choose from simple hangers and show-stopping window boxes to unique designs.”
4. Bold yellow door

There’s nothing quite like a sunny shade of yellow on the door to brighten up a dark front porch. Just take a gander at this one from @windmill.lane.of.8.
“Who doesn’t love a bold door?” asks Larson. “Although they’ve always been popular, I think home shows have recently propelled a bright door to another level. Whether it be this yellow on blue or the popular red on white, bold doors make a statement. And homeowners love how unique it makes their home.”
5. Ceiling fan

Who says ceiling fans can’t do double duty as outdoor decor? Clearly, someone who hasn’t seen this chic front porch fan from @wellnestedhome.
“Porch ceiling fans provide you with the comfort of the indoors but the luxury of being outdoors,” says Breslin. “And adding a ceiling fan to your porch will make it more enjoyable for a longer period, especially in summer and warmer climates. Some ceiling fans also have a built-in light fixture so you can continue to use your space well into the night.”
