Cape May has been called "New Jersey's Restaurant Capital" by the New York Times, and one of its oldest eateries was just named by NJ Monthly Magazine on its "Best Breakfast At The Shore" list!

A typical winner for this sort of award has been Cape May's Mad Batter, but this time, it's Blue Pig Tavern, the flagship restaurant in Congress Hall!

Cape Advisors completed a redevelopment of Congress Hall and launched The Blue Pig Tavern in 2002. Whether a guest of Congress Hall or a neighboring hotel or a Cape May native, all are welcome for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the distinctive dining rooms of the Blue Pig Tavern. Tucked in the corner of Congress Hall that fronts on Congress Place and Perry Streets, the name derives from a gambling parlor sited in Congress Hall in the mid-1800s. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May.

Beloved by locals and visitors alike, there is no better place than the Blue Pig to enjoy American classics. In the warmer months, dining is available on a wonderful, secluded patio. In the cooler months, the magnificent dining room fireplace is center stage. Cape Advisors’ former subsidiary, Cape Resorts Group, manages the property.

Here's what NJ Monthly had to say:

Blue Pig Tavern

Set in the historic Congress Hall Hotel, the Blue Pig’s bright porch and patio dining rooms are ideal spots to start a leisurely day. Here you’ll want to splurge a little. Slather a biscuit with creamy butter and lay on the thick-cut bacon that hails from sister property Beach Plum Farm. After breakfast, head over there, meet the hens, and visit the market. —Deborah P.
